Harm reduction
- The order of risk in routes of use is broadly: smoking and injecting > nasal > oral. Do not escalate routes.
- Sleep deprivation outruns the dose: 48+ hours awake plus methamphetamine is a standard route into psychosis.
- Do not use alone, and tell someone how much you have taken and when.
- Test for fentanyl; methamphetamine is also used as a cutting agent in other drugs.
- Regular use causes dental, cardiac, cognitive and dermatological harm that is largely irreversible. Getting out early matters more than any dose adjustment.
- Test your substance. Cocaine, amphetamine and MDMA powders are routinely cut with fentanyl or nitazenes, and stimulant pills are frequently counterfeits.
- Do not mix stimulants with each other, with alcohol, or with MAOIs, SSRIs or tramadol - the cardiovascular and serotonin risks compound.
- Watch body temperature. Overheating and dehydration cause more stimulant emergencies than heart attacks do. Take breaks, cool down with water and air, and sip (do not gulp) fluids.
- Eat and sleep. Sleep deprivation plus stimulants is the standard route into stimulant psychosis.
- Do not re-dose compulsively. Set a maximum before you start, and give it to someone else to hold you to.
Identify what you have
Reagent tests show what a substance probably is, not how pure it is or what else is in the mix. Fentanyl and nitazene test strips are the only reliable check for those, and quantitative lab testing is better than both.
