MDMA
Empathogen · popular
A serotonin-releasing empathogen: warmth, empathy, talkativeness and euphoria, usually for 3-5 hours. The single most commonly adulterated party drug. Neurotoxic with heavy or frequent use, and seriously dangerous in combination with MAOIs, lithium, tramadol or DXM.

Dose
Published population range
Basis: 1.5 mg/kg is the standard harm-reduction reference for a common dose; controlled trials use 75-125 mg fixed. We scale the published 70 kg range to your body mass.
Never exceed ~200 mg total in a session, and leave 6-12 weeks between rolls regardless of body weight.

Harm reduction
- Test it. Reagent tests catch the obvious substitutions; only a fentanyl strip catches fentanyl, and only lab testing tells you purity.
- Keep the session total under about 200 mg. A single re-dose no more than 90-120 minutes in is the common harm-reduction pattern.
- 250-500 ml of water per hour in a hot environment. More is not better - hyponatraemia kills people at parties every year.
- Take a 10-minute break from dancing every hour or so and let your body temperature drop.
- Do not use it if you take an SSRI, SNRI, MAOI, lithium or tramadol. This is not a caution, it is a contraindication.
- Wait 6-12 weeks between sessions. Consecutive weekends are how mood and memory problems start.
- Test your substance with reagent tests and, if available, a lab service. MDMA is very commonly substituted or adulterated.
- Keep the total session dose under roughly 200 mg and stop re-dosing after one top-up. More does not mean better, and it does mean more neurotoxicity.
- Hydrate, but do not over-drink. Around 250-500 ml per hour in a hot club is the usual guidance; drinking several litres fast causes dangerous hyponatraemia.
- Take breaks from dancing and cool down. Overheating is a leading cause of MDMA emergencies and deaths.
Identify what you have
Reagent tests show what a substance probably is, not how pure it is or what else is in the mix. Fentanyl and nitazene test strips are the only reliable check for those, and quantitative lab testing is better than both.
Mixing
Tramadol and stimulants both increase the risk of seizures.
MAO-B inhibitors can increase the potency and duration of phenethylamines unpredictably. MAO-A inhibitors with MDMA will lead to hypertensive crises.

Some of the 5-MeO tryptamines are a bit unpredictable and should be mixed with MDMA with care
The combination of MDMA and alcohol may increase strain on the cardiovascular system and lead to increased alcohol consumption. MDMA may also impair one's ability to recognize their level of drunkenness, leading to increased alcohol consumption and poor decision-making. Alcohol may also increase the risk of dehydration and hyperthermia (increased body temperature) when combined with MDMA.
Cocaine blocks some of the desirable effects of MDMA while increasing the risk of heart attack.
