MDA
Empathogen
MDMA's closer, more psychedelic and more neurotoxic cousin. Effects are stronger per milligram, last longer, and carry more of a bodyload.

Dose
Published population range
Basis: Scaled from the published 70 kg range. MDA is roughly 1.5x as potent as MDMA by weight and lasts longer.
Because MDA lasts longer and is more neurotoxic, the total-session ceiling matters more than the single dose.

Timeline (oral)
Bars show relative time in each phase, scaled to the total duration. Each phase keeps its colour in the list above.
Expected effects
- Euphoria and empathy
- Visual and perceptual distortion (more than MDMA)
- Increased sociability
- Enhanced tactile sensation
- Stimulation
Possible side effects
- Body load and muscle tension
- Nausea
- Raised heart rate, blood pressure and temperature
- Longer and harder comedown than MDMA
- Higher neurotoxicity than MDMA at equivalent doses
- Insomnia
- Low mood in the following days
Harm reduction
- Test your substance with reagent tests and, if available, a lab service. MDMA is very commonly substituted or adulterated.
- Keep the total session dose under roughly 200 mg and stop re-dosing after one top-up. More does not mean better, and it does mean more neurotoxicity.
- Hydrate, but do not over-drink. Around 250-500 ml per hour in a hot club is the usual guidance; drinking several litres fast causes dangerous hyponatraemia.
- Take breaks from dancing and cool down. Overheating is a leading cause of MDMA emergencies and deaths.
- Leave 6-12 weeks between sessions. This is the single most effective way to limit long-term effects on mood, memory and sleep.
- Do not combine with MAOIs, lithium, tramadol or DXM - these are documented causes of serotonin syndrome and death. SSRIs blunt the effect and add their own risk.
- The crash 2-3 days later is normal and temporary. If low mood persists for weeks, that is a reason to stop and speak to a doctor.
Identify what you have
Reagent tests show what a substance probably is, not how pure it is or what else is in the mix. Fentanyl and nitazene test strips are the only reliable check for those, and quantitative lab testing is better than both.
