Cannabis

Cannabinoid · popular

THC-dominant cannabis products. Relaxation, euphoria, altered time sense, increased appetite and, in some people, anxiety and paranoia. Modern products are far stronger than a generation ago, and edibles fail predictably because people re-dose before the first one hits.

Before you dose

⚠This substance's dose is not reliably weight-scaled - the ranges shown are population figures. Sensitivity varies far more between people than body mass explains.
⚠This substance has combinations that are life-threatening. Check the Interactions tab before mixing anything.

Expected effects

  • Relaxation
  • Euphoria and giggling
  • Altered sense of time
  • Enhanced music, food and touch
  • Increased appetite
  • Reduced anxiety at lower doses
  • Introspection
  • Easier sleep

Possible side effects

  • Anxiety, paranoia and panic (more likely with high-THC products)
  • Short-term memory impairment
  • Dry mouth
  • Red eyes
  • Dizziness
  • Impaired coordination and driving ability
  • Cyclical vomiting with long-term heavy use (CHS)
  • Reduced motivation with daily use
  • Dependence and withdrawal irritability
  • Increased risk of first-episode psychosis in vulnerable people

Harm reduction

  • Edibles: wait a full two hours before re-dosing. This is the most common cannabis mistake by a wide margin.
  • Concentrates and modern flower can be 20-30% THC. Take one puff of anything new and wait 15 minutes.
  • Do not mix with psychedelics or dissociatives unless you are experienced - it multiplies their intensity unpredictably.
  • Cannabis and stimulants together raise heart rate and anxiety substantially.
  • Daily use raises anxiety over time in a substantial minority of users and is a dependence syndrome in its own right.
  • Cyclical vomiting (CHS) after years of heavy use is real, unpleasant and only resolves with stopping.
  • Potency has risen sharply over the last decade. Start with one or two puffs of anything new.
  • With edibles, wait a full two hours before taking more. Almost every cannabis freak-out is the result of re-dosing too early.
  • Cannabis markedly amplifies psychedelics, dissociatives and stimulants. Add it cautiously or not at all.
  • Do not use if you have a personal or family history of psychosis, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder - cannabis is the most consistently implicated drug in triggering first episodes.

Reagent tests show what a substance probably is, not how pure it is or what else is in the mix. Fentanyl and nitazene test strips are the only reliable check for those, and quantitative lab testing is better than both.
